It’s easy to make assumptions about where and how healthcare professionals engage online. But algorithms shift, platforms evolve, and physicians, like the rest of us, are adapting their behavior in real time.

I had the privilege of helping a client bring a group of physicians together in Europe recently to talk candidly about their social media use and how it’s changing. The insights were rich, and the conversations were refreshingly direct.

I’ve helped plan and facilitate social media summits with clinicians and patients for over a decade, and this one will stay with me. The energy in the room was unmatched. It’s a reminder that no metric or dashboard can replace face-to-face conversations when you want to understand what really matters to your stakeholders.

If you haven’t asked your audience how they’re showing up online lately, now’s a good time. The answers may surprise and reshape how you think about digital engagement in your next initiative.
